Hotel or motel managers oversee all day-to-day operations and functions of a hotel or motel. These include managing reservations, security, supervising reception, coordinating room service, hospitality and housekeeping activities.
Suitable for people with good communication and listening skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. Organisation, coordination and leadership skills are important.
Formal qualifications are not required. Industry experience is essential and taking a vocational education and training (VET) course in hospitality or management can help with career progression.
