Overview

Child care centre managers coordinate staff and resources for child care centres, overseeing education, physical and personal growth activities for children. They are the main point of contact for parents or guardians.

Work is onsite at the childcare centre, occasional travel to training or workshops may be required.

Day-to-day

  • plan and implement programs that develop the physical, social, emotional and intellectual awareness of young children
  • provide daycare, before and after school care, and vacation care
  • direct and supervise staff
  • ensure the centre is a safe area for children, staff and visitors
  • comply with relevant government requirements and standards
  • liaise with parents or guardians
  • manage the records and accounts and supplies for the centre
  • recruit staff and encourage professional development.
